One of the unique options for the public schools in the city of Anchorage are the language immersion programs and in particular the Japanese program. 10 has been attending since kindergarten and will soon be moving on to Junior High where she can continue her studies as such. Although the program is strong, the municipal school district has continued to show signs of deficit growth year after year and program reductions, which is disheartening.

This May, some students in her fifth grade class have the opportunity to visit Anchorage's sister city of Chitose. 10 and I are fortunate enough to partake in this opportunity of cultural awareness but not without the high cost. So we are attempting fundraising in the form of concessions. Having never run concessions or organizing any fundraising initiatives, I find myself in uncharted waters and out of my natural element after I willingly volunteered to organize. How hard can setting up some chips and drinks be?

Having obtained some tips from family, previous fundraising organizer and my lovely AI friend, I am sure now, this is definitely not my comfort zone.
